STATEMENT

My paintings typically are metaphors of the natural world, exploring meaning in relation to cultural patterns and observations. I acknowledge grief and recognize it as a point of formation in my life.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Germany, Ursula Ann Jeffcoat goes by her childhood nickname Uschi. She is German-American and finds her home in both cultures, having grown up in Huntsville, Alabama.

Although she works in all mediums, watercolor is her favorite. Her work is inspired by the life and spaces she encounters.

Uschi holds a degree in German and a minor in art from the University of South Alabama. She currently works as the Head Curator of Education at the Florence County Museum in Florence, South Carolina. Her previous experience includes serving as the Executive Director of the Florence Regional Arts Alliance, as Curator of the Adele Kassab Gallery located within Francis Marion University’s Hyman Fine Arts Center and as German teacher within the International Baccalaureate Programme at Williams Middle School.

Her career paths tend to oscillate between a love for language and the Arts.
